SIX WEEKS - SOLO PROJECT - DESIGN - FALL 2018
Gunvelution is a wave-based survival shooter in Unreal with a gun upgrade mechanic. Each wave, the player must survive a certain amount of time. If they succeed, they earn an upgrade that fundamentally changes how their gun functions.
While this is not my most prestigious or polished project, I think it was one of my more educational ones. My main goal for this project is to have a freeform exploration into how different types of guns were defined by their gameplay. I was fascinated by seeing players interact with upgrades throughout their playthroughs and the kind of guns they produced. While the types of guns were heavily skewed towards the upgrades that were the most effective against the enemies in Gunvelution, I still got to learn a lot about how players develop their playstyle and seek out certain kinds of interactions.
